Worcester County, located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, is Maryland's only seaside county, known for Ocean City's clean sandy beaches, outdoor recreation, steamed crabs and the famous wild pony herd on Assateague Island State Park and National Seashore. Worcester County also has the best birding in the state, more than a dozen championship golf courses and 100 miles of marked bicycle trails on flat country roads.
1. Ocean City Boardwalk and Ocean City Lifesaving Station Museum - Bike, walk or ride the train the entire length from the inlet to 27th street (approximately 3 miles). Make sure you visit the Lifesaving Station Museum at the Inlet on the boards. This museum interprets the fascinating history of this town and its life saving service. They also have great kids programs July-August, weather permitting including; knot tying, 'All About Sharks' program and aquarium feeding. 410-289-4991.
2. Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Ocean City - Discover its 1875 roots as a small fishing village and some of the architectural gems that still occupy the downtown today. 410-289-1413.
3. Sundaes in the Park, Free Beach Concerts and Bonfire Hour - Enjoy all these events in Ocean City and they are free, free, free!!

4. Shop Ocean City Factory Outlets - In West Ocean City you will find top name brands like Gap, Bass, Reebok, OshKosh, Harry and David, Motherhood Maternity, Carter’s, Geoffrey Beene and many more. 410-213-7898.
5. Assateague Island National Seashore and State Park - Make the Barrier Island Visitor Center your first stop, see wild horses, sika deer and a beach landscape that has remained unchanged over centuries. 410-641-1441. 15 minutes from Ocean City.
Hike and Bike at Assateague National Seashore Hike the three nature trails; Life of the Dunes Trail, Life of the Marsh Trail and Life of the Forest Trail. The Marsh and Forest Trails are handicap accessible. While you’re there, rent a bike or canoe and bike the island’s designated bike trail or canoe the back waters of Sinepuxent Bay. 6. Berlin’s Commercial Historic District - Visit this 19th century Victorian Village, the location of 2 major motion pictures, Runaway Bride and Tuck Everlasting. Don’t miss the art galleries, antiques and boutiques.

Try the self-guided walking tour, pick up a brochure with map at Town Center Antiques. And don’t miss the opportunity to sit and have a milkshake at an old-fashioned soda fountain at Rayne’s Reef. Berlin is only a 15 minute drive from Ocean City.
7. Furnace Town Living Heritage Museum - Experience a 19th century industrial village, the site of Maryland’s only bog ore furnace, including, broomhouse, kitchen garden, printshop, weaving house, woodworkers shop and blacksmith. Demonstrations and living history events scheduled regularly Open April through October, 10am-5pm daily.

9. Pocomoke River State Park - Hike the trails in the Pocomoke River State Forest, fish in the catch and release pond, look for bald eagles and rent a boat or canoe. 410-632-2566. No fee for day use. 35 minutes from Ocean City.
