Make your destination wedding right here at Maryland’s Beach & Beyond.

Congratulations! You’re engaged! Let this article ease your stress and guide you in the right direction to have the beach wedding of your dreams. Getting married should be a joyous occasion instead of a stressful one. Luckily, Worcester County, Maryland, has beaches where you can have your wedding right on its shores. So get ready to dig your toes into the sand and have the most unforgettable wedding your family and friends will ever attend. Here are the top reasons to get married in Worcester County.

It’s easy to get a permit for a beach wedding.

Many couples are reluctant to the idea of a beach wedding because they’re faced with the reality of needing a permit. Assateague Island State and National Park in Berlin makes it easy to acquire a permit, and the application fee is reasonably cheap (at only $50.00). Once given the green light to have your beach wedding, you’ll be given specific instructions on the location and the duration of how long your beach wedding can last. The park tends to discourage couples from scheduling during peak hours and busy tourist season— to avoid being overcrowded. Ocean City also allows weddings on its beaches, where your guests have convenient access to luxury hotels, restaurants, shops and entertainment.

If you’re familiar with Assateague Island State and National Park, then you know its famous for its wild horses. It’s common for couples, who have their wedding here, to see the horses grazing in the background as they exchange their vows. The horses are friendly as long as they’re left alone; it also is great for a fabulous photo opportunity.

Beyond the beach

If you and your fiance prefer to get married in a church or on a rustic farm, Worcester County has many other amazing venues to say “I do”. If you want your ceremony to have a touch of history, consider getting married at Furnace Town Living Heritage Museum, a preserved village in Snow Hill from the pioneer days. The village has its own Old Nazareth Church built in 1874 that’s available for weddings, making it great if you wish to get married in a traditional setting. Or get married on the lawn surrounded by a garden in Furnace Town, where guests are escorted to a covered pavilion (made to seat up to 175 people) for the reception.

Another fantastic inland destination to surround yourself with natural beauty is  at Castle Farm, a working horse farm in Snow Hill where Andalusian horses graze in the grass while your guests sit comfortably in a white tent, cathedral-style facility or outdoor on its lawn. Couples love to pose by the horses and the stables for a rustic-looking background during their photos. Since the venue sits on 150 acres,  having a large wedding is possible at the farm. Another alternative is to head over to Ocean City and get married in Ocean Pines. This waterfront venue is a popular destination for weddings since it provides a gorgeous setting and has a spacious, luxe room with large windows facing the water.  It’s suggested to plan your ceremony at sunset so you’ll get married while the sky turns into breathtaking shades of pink, orange and purple. Ocean Pines also provides its own catering service where couples can choose between select dinners or a buffet.
